Description

This facility is composed of three parts:

– A prismatic building, of approximately 102 x 13 meters, in which service areas and grandstand access are located. It is two stories high. The ground floor houses the locker rooms, the lavatories and the stockroom, whereas the first floor is contains the aisles and gangways which are providing passage to the grandstand.

– A grandstand with seven seating rows which is interrupted in the middle so to house press boxes and cafeteria that provide splendid views over the pitch.

– A folded-plate roof made out of reinforced concrete and steel arrises which covers the entire grandstand. It is embedded in shear walls which are placed at the back, spaced at a distance of 7.3 meter.

The construction process of the roofsought to bring together a carefully finished surface with the greatest economy of means.  Therefore, a steel structure was erected on provisional props; 10 cm thick triangular lattice-girder planks, which had previously been precast on the ground, were hoisted and placed on top of this structure. An 8 cm thick in-situ top layer consolidated the canopy roof.
