OFF-SHORE METEOROLOGICAL MASTS IN SCOTLAND - INCH CAPE Y MORAY FIRTH

Project details

Technical Data

Description

Drace UK installed a meteorological mast at Moray Firth and Inch Cape, at north East of Scotland, in order to measure wind conditions at the site ahead of the construction of the wind farms.

MC2 participates during the construction phase, defining the base plate and checking main steel structure.

The mast is composed by a monopile tubular structure at the bottom and a lattice girder at the top, with the monopile anchored on a concrete gravity base foundation.

Concrete caissons were transported from Spain by sea, and installation of mast has been done while caissons were afloat at quayside of Invergordon port. Works included confined space entry in caissons, work at height on mast sections, heavy lifts and fabrication plus tow out to site and submerging in situ.
