Description

Jointly with the technical services of SACYR, which is the bridge construction contractor, MC2 Consultant Engineering Office carried out the analysis, follow up and monitoring of the cable erection process.

This bridge over the Tajo River in the south ring road of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) is a single cable-stayed bridge with prestressed concrete  box girder. Its span length is 318 m, the deck is 36 m wide and the depth of the box girder is 2.75 m. The structure is equipped with two planes of cables, each of them having 38 stays which are connected to the deck every 7 m and converge into the single pylon. This pylon is an inclined tower of reinforced concrete, 174 m high, 4.0 m wide and with a depth varying from 15.3 m at its lower part to 5.0 m at its apex. It is back-stayed by means of another two sets of cables that are connected to deadman anchors which balance the pylon by their self weight.
