The driving ideas behind the formal and structural design of the footbridge have been the following:
– To offer a transparent view, with very light and clear visual impact
– Allowing a fast construction process, with the slightest interference with the traffic below
In order to guarantee this double proposition, the stress ribbon typology has been chosen, with a certain originality –not because of the singular typology, but due to the unusual width of the footbridge (9.10 m), quite over the dimensions these solutions normally employ.
The stress ribbon is situated simmetrically regarding the axis of the street below, on two inclined piers at the sides of the road, formed by two identical “W” shaped elements carried out in steel ciruclar tubes filled with high-strength concrete.
