The designed structure had to shelter the concreting of the deck slabs of the approaches for the Øresund Bridge with spans of 120 and 140 m.

The assembly plant required a large covered area for the casting of the deck slabs onto the steel trusses of the bridge. It had to allow the entry of these trusses as well as the withdrawal of the composite decks posterior to the casting process. Therefore, the structure with a floor plan of 150 m by 32 m could only bear on its four vertices and had to feature 15 m lateral clearance all along its perimeter.

The structural system consists of two 150 m large trusses set on their longitudinal edges and a series  of 32 m span portal frames at 10 m centres. The columns of the portal frames coincide partially  with the stanchions of the lateral trusses.
