New remote boarding lounge in Barajas Airport T2

Project details

Technical Data

Reinforcement total area: 1600 m2

Intervened floors: 3 (Basement, Ground Floor, First Floor)

Description

The creation of a new Remote Boarding lounge (boarding lounge for flights without the use of jetway) requires the creation of a new vertical circulation core made up of an elevator, a pedestrian stair and a mechanical stair, all of them to be placed in a concrete structure built in the 50s.

To minimize the impact on the existing floors, new steel columns are built, founded on new footings, which support the structures of the stairs and elevators, as well as the edge of the new openings that intercept the one-way floor. The slab areas where the intervention alters the stresses are reinforced by carbon fiber systems.
