Project details

Technical Data

  • Height: 255 m
  • Number of units: 12 cubes
  • Gross floor area: 16,500 m2

Description

At request of Dragados, a self-erecting construction process has been designed for this landmark building of New York.

Although the structure of the completely erected building is stable, the originality and complexity of the structural system implies that it has to undergo less favorable states during its construction. This is mainly due to wind load and the asymmetry of the structure.

In order to achieve a safe and economic erection, a construction process has been designed that is based on vertical incremental launching. The cubes are built at ground level and launched to their final position on the reinforced concrete core.
