  • Total floor area: 133300 m2

Description

The first stage of the remodelling of the La Paz district in Murcia includes the construction of five blocks of flats rising 97 metres high.

The buildings will be erected in reinforced concrete with solid concrete slabs and the wind-proof, anti-seismic structure shall consist of a series of wall pillars and a central core that will house the elevator shafts and stairwells. The design of high rise buildings in Murcia being largely determined by these dynamic loadings, two structural principles have been taken into account during the design process: 1) make the vertical elements work as cantilever walls and 2) make them compose a portal frame together with the floor slabs.

The foundation of the parking beneath the buildings is a mat while the buildings themselves bear on large diameter pile caps.
