Description

Although not visible at first glance, the structure of this building is highly complex and key for its architectural look.

The 42 m span roof-beams of the large exhibition area, which is housing the replica of the Altamira cave, support the weight of the large gardened area as well as that of the suspended office area from which the roof of the artificial cave hangs.

The very large continuous windows (over 25 m wide) demanded for large triangular built-up girders working in combination with precast prestressed members so to meet the initial architectural design.
