Technical Data

  • Gross floor area: 130,000 m2

Description

Besides the ground floor, which has been carried out in reinforced concrete, the entire structure is a steel-concrete composite solution. 6  cm thick precast floor plates are used in conjunction with cast-in-situ concrete topping so to obtain floor slabs with a total thickness of 15 cm. They are connected to steel beams so to constitute the large composite spans (span lengths between 8 and 11 m) as well as the various cantilever spans (from 1.50 to 5.00 m) determining the geometry of the sloping facade. The RC ground floor is the only exception to this overall composite structure.

The main feature of the structure lies in the arrangement of a large number of heavy steel transfer girders on the first floor, which bear most of the interior columns. That way, the floor plan of the ground and basement floors suits all manner of functionalities whereas the floor plan of the above office floors is much more regular and modulated.
